City of Calgary Selling Five Land Parcels
The City of Calgary is selling five land parcels intended for affordable housing development.
Under a pilot program, each property will come with funding of up to $75,000 per door to help buyers develop housing quickly. The money will be available through the federal government’s Housing Accelerator Fund program, said the city in a news release,
“This [accelerated construction] will ensure more Calgarians are housed with dignity close to community amenities,” said Mayor Jyoti Gondek.
The five properties are situated in the communities of Crescent Heights, Haysboro, Erin Woods, Erlton and Shaganappi. The offering is part of the city’s non-market housing land sale program.
Indigenous non-profit groups will receive priority to acquire the parcels, and can apply between March 18 to April 25. All affordable housing organizations may apply between May 27 to July 4.
