City of Mirabel to Invest Up to $200M in Water Park
The City of Mirabel, Que., has announced plans to develop a world-class indoor water park in the Cité Mirabel district with an investment ranging from $175 million to $200 million.
Unveiled during the city’s presentation on future development projects for 2025, the project is expected to become a major economic and tourism driver for the region and Greater Montreal.
Led by local developer Ray Junior Courtemanche, the large-scale development will feature about 20 unique water attractions, including a water rollercoaster and a lazy river. The multi-functional complex will also include two hotels, a 1,500-seat performance hall, and a 70,000-square-foot convention centre on the 11th floor, offering panoramic sunset views from its terrace. Rooftop reception halls on the 14th floor of the second hotel will provide additional space for large events and weddings.
Beyond its water attractions, the entertainment hub will host outdoor recreation shops catering to activities such as water sports, aviation, camping, skateboarding, cycling, and skiing. Visitors can also expect trendy evening restaurants, a fast-food zone, beauty and spa services, and a multi-level parking structure designed to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by shielding vehicles from sunlight.
Sustainability is at the heart of the project, with advanced water filtration systems that will allow for water recycling and reduced consumption, said the city. These measures align with Mirabel’s environmental objectives and are designed to ensure that the complex operates with a minimal ecological footprint.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026. The first phase, which includes the water park and the first hotel, is expected to open within 24 months of the groundbreaking.
