Coast’s Parent Acquires Downtown Seattle Hilton Hotel

Coast Hotels’ parent has acquired a Hilton in downtown Seattle for an undisclosed price.

Vancouver-based Coast’s highly recognized label will be featured in the hotel’s new name. Hilton Seattle is being rebranded immediately as Coast Seattle Downtown Hotel by APA.

Parent firm APA of Japan bought the property through a U.S.-based subsidiary, the company said in a news release. Denver-based Stonebridge Hospitality Management will continue to manage the hotel.

The transaction has closed.

“This strategic move aligns with our vision for expansion and exponential growth across North America,” said Isshi Motoya, CEO of APA Group, in a news release.

“We are very excited to transform the property into the Coast Seattle Downtown Hotel by APA, welcoming our new ambassadors to the Coast Hotels brand and providing guests with the high-quality service and experience for which our brand is known. We also look forward to playing an active part in the continued resurgence of the downtown Seattle business community.”

The 256-room hotel is located within walking distance to Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square, and connected to the Seattle Convention Center via an underground walkway. Features include executive rooms with views of the Seattle Skyline, about 6,000 square feet of flexible function space, including pillar-free ballrooms; boardrooms, top-floor venues with downtown views, a fitness centre and a Redtrees restaurant and bar.

APA said the hotel will receive such “updates” as a “lobby refresh” that are in line with other Coast brand standards. The improvements are slated to be implemented in 2025.

Vancouver-based Coast Hotels offers properties in large and small markets throughout B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Yukon, Alaska, California, Hawaii, and Washington state. The company owns and franchises hotels under the Coast Hotels.

Coast also manages hospitality properties under its brand and independent labels.

APA acquired Coast in 2016 for $210 million from Japanese hotelier Okabe Co. Ltd., according to Business in Vancouver.
