Construction Begins at Carrington’s Fort Rouge Project in Winnipeg
Carrington Real Estate has begun construction on a highly touted 156-unit apartment building in Winnipeg’s Fort-Rouge district.
The 25 Station Place project has been praised for its accessibility to transit. The project site is adjacent to a new rapid-transit hub.
Mayor Scott Gillingham told reporters that he wants to see more transit-oriented developments like the 16-storey project.
“It’s right next to the major transit line, it’s multi-family, it’s within an established community,” said Gillingham.
“It’s these types of infill projects and the densification that we really need to be building and we’re focused on as a council.”
The project is also slated to contain 3,000 square feet of retail spaces and will feature a geothermal heating and cooling system.
“This transit-oriented development is a milestone for our company,” said Jared Carrington, president of Winnipeg-based Carrington Real Estate, during a groundbreaking ceremony. “Not only does Station Place exceed the national energy standard by a significant margin, but this stunning apartment complex will also be built entirely with pre-cast concrete panels.”
The project is slated to be complete in 2026.
Canadian Apartment reported that Carrington plans to break ground in summer 2025 on the second phase of the Station Place development: A 20-storey multi-family tower.
