Couche-Tard to Remodel Canadian, U.S. Stores
Couch-Tard plans to remodel most of its Circle-K convenience stores in Canada and the U.S., according to multiple reports.
“As we look to the future, we’ve got a couple of other things that we think will continue to help us grow margins,” said Brian Hannasch, the Laval, Que.-based retailer’s president and CEO, during a quarterly earnings call, Convenience Store News reported. “The first would be we’re in our second year of our One Touch remodel program, where we’ll touch about 80% of our [Circle-K] sites in the United States and Canada, and we are seeing nice food growth on the back of those remodels.”
About 1,000 of the remodels have been completed, according to the reports. The company operates about 16,700 stores under the Circle-K, Couche-Tard and other brands in 31 countries and territories.
Alex Miller will become president and CEO of Couche-Tard on September 6 as Hannash retires from his president, CEO and board positions, the company announced earlier this summer.
Miller will be promoted from his chief operating officer position.
Hannasch will continue with the company as a special advisor to both Miller and Alain Bouchar, Couche-Tard’s founder and executive chairman of the board.
