CPPIB Teams Up with RMZ to Invest US$750M in Bollywood Redevelopment Project

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and RMZ will invest US$750 million to redevelop one of Mumbai’s iconic Bollywood movie studios into a 10.94-acre office project, according to multiple reports.

The project, known as RMZ Nexus, sits on the site of the former Kamal Amrohi studio. In addition to office spaces, RMZ Nexus will include concept retail stores, gourmet dining options, informal marketplaces, sky bars, social clubs, and a wellness zone, the Hindustan Times reported.

“RMZ Nexus is as a testament to our conviction in Mumbai’s dynamic future and India’s burgeoning economy,” Thirumal Govindraj, CEO, RMZ Office and RMZ NXT, said per the Hindustan Times. “The development is not just a contribution to Mumbai’s skyline, but a strategic investment in India’s growth trajectory. We are poised to further expand our portfolio across Mumbai and other strategic markets, shaping the future of real estate and contributing to India’s continued economic ascendance.”

This ambitious redevelopment project highlights the increasing appeal of Mumbai as a major commercial hub and underscores the growing collaboration between global investors and Indian developers to create world-class infrastructure, according to Bengalaru-based RMZ.

Construction is expected to conclude in 2027.
