Downtown Halifax Office Vacancy Falls to 12.4%

Downtown Halifax office continues to decline, says a new report.

The core’s office vacancy rate fell to 360 basis points year-over-year to 12.4% in the first quarter, according to the Downtown Halifax Business Commission, citing Colliers data.

However, the retail sector did not fare as well, as vacancy increased 120 basis points year-over-year to 10.9%.

But the downtown area is still experiencing a revitalization, the state of the downtown report’s figures show.

Total downtown visits exceeded pre-pandemic levels, rising 12.4% year-over-year and 3.1% since the COVID-19 outbreak to 19.2 million.
