EllisDon Awarded $1.3B Contract for Queensway Hospital Redev

EllisDon has received a $1.3-billion fixed-price contract to redevelop a hospital in the Greater Toronto Area.

Infrastructure Ontario and Trillium Health Partners granted EllisDon the contract to construct and finance the future home of the Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre in Mississauga, Ont. The project involves the redevelopment of the existing Queensway Health Centre..

Mississauga-headquartered EllisDon qualified in May 2022 based on construction experience and financial capacity. The service-procurement process was conducted by a third-party fairness advisor, said IO and THP in a news release.

The redevelopment project encompasses a new patient tower with about 350 beds spread across nine modern floors, facilitating specialized care. The facility will contain 100% private rooms alongside a new standalone central utility plant.

Site preparation is slated to commence this month with groundbreaking expected in spring. Patient tower occupancy and final completion are targeted for 2029.
