Feds, B.C., City Invest $91M in Vancouver Mixed-Use Project
Ottawa, the B.C. government and City of Vancouver are investing $91 million in a new mixed-use project in the Davie Village district.
The project at 981 Davie Street will include 151 affordable housing units and commercial space, officials announced Friday during a news conference. The Community Land Trust non-profit society will own and operate the building in partnership with the McLaren Housing Society, which provides support services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
Ottawa is providing $15.4 million, while the province is contributing $27.8 million. The city is investing $10.7 million to establish a new home for QMUNITY, a non-profit group that works to improve the lives of queer, transgender and two-spirited people, in the building.
In addition, the city and Metro Vancouver, an umbrella group for the region’s local governments, are providing $3.6 million in local development cost charges and regional DCC waivers.
Construct is slated to conclude in 2026.
