Feds Invest $30M in Nova Scotia Affordable Housing Projects, Repairs
The federal government is investing $30 million in the construction and repair of 1,812 affordable homes across Nova Scotia.
A total of 44 new homes are slated to be built, while 1,768 units are to be repaired.
“If we want every family to not only live but thrive in our communities, they need a safe place to call home that they can afford,” said Darren Fisher, MP for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour, in a news release
“This investment will also help repair affordable homes across the province, ensuring they’re safe and available for folks to live in today and in the future.
The new construction includes a 32-unit project operated by the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia at 91 True North Crescent in Dartmouth, N.S. The three-building project will include a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom townhomes
All of the True North buildings are net-zero, energy efficient, and located near lakes, parks, public transport and the local elementary school. Ottawa invested $8.2 million in the project.
The federal government is investing the funds through its $14-billion Affordable Housing Fund.
