The federal and provincial governments have agreed to fund five new affordable and social housing development projects in Quebec City.

The sites will contain 324 rental units altogether for students; families and individuals; women victimized by violence; men who are experiencing hardships; refugees and independent seniors.

Ottawa and the provinces government are funding the projects through through the Canada-Quebec Agreement under the Housing Accelerator Fund, to which the governments have each contributed $900 million. Quebec City’s municipal government will contribute at least 40% of a base grant provided through the province’s housing agency.

The developments are among 47 projects chosen by the federal governments in February for rapid construction and will comprise 2,574 units.
