Feds, Province Fast-Tracking 324 Rental-Housing Units in Quebec City
The federal and provincial governments have agreed to fund five new affordable and social housing development projects in Quebec City.
The sites will contain 324 rental units altogether for students; families and individuals; women victimized by violence; men who are experiencing hardships; refugees and independent seniors.
Ottawa and the provincial government are funding the projects through through the Canada-Quebec Agreement under the Housing Accelerator Fund, to which the governments have each contributed $900 million. Quebec City’s municipal government will contribute at least 40% of a base grant provided through the province’s housing agency.
The developments are among 47 projects chosen by the federal governments in February for rapid construction and will comprise 2,574 units.
