First National’s McQuire Originates More Than $2B in Mortgages

(Connect has handed out its third-annual Canadian Women in Real Estate Awards. This story profiles First National Director Abby McQuire.)

By Amy Wolff Sorter

Abby McQuire is First National Financial’s Senior Director, Commercial Financing. As a senior member of Canada’s leading commercial real estate financing team, McQuire has played a pivotal role in originating over $2 billion in multi-residential construction mortgages across Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary.

Her deep expertise in CMHC-insured construction financing has made her a trusted advisor and strategic partner to developers navigating the complexities of large-scale residential projects.

McQuire has been involved with the 331-unit Well Towers, 579-unit Novus, the 425-unit 45 Strachan and the 521-unit Balliol Park, among other projects.

She frequently participates in panels and forums, recently contributing to the Western Canada Apartment Investment Conference’s Financing Roundtable, where she shared insights on active lenders, capital availability and CMHC updates. Since 2003, she has been an expert speaker for the Real Estate Investment Network (REIN).

These are just some of the reasons why Connect Canada CRE honoured Abby McQuire with a 2025 Canadian Women in Real Estate Award. The awards celebrate the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and taken on mentorship roles.
