FirstService Acquires Core Real Estate Group

FirstService Residential has acquired Edmonton-based property management company Core Real Estate Group.

The move significantly expands FirstService’s presence in the Alberta capital and Western Canada, bringing its total residential units under management in Canada to approximately 250,000.

“This partnership with David Brown and his team is key for us as we continue to invest and expand our presence in Western Canada,” said said David Diestel, CEO of FirstService, which maintains its corporate office in Plantation, Fla.

“Together, we will bring new local expertise and our scale to benefit the communities that we serve.”

Founded and headed by David Brown, Core manages about 15,000 multi-residential units. The company was founded in 2011.

“Our customers will benefit from combined expertise, industry-leading best practices, and property management resources, further enhancing the level of service they receive,” said Brown.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
