Fitzrovia Launches MF Building Owner-Operator
Fitzrovia has launched a new multi-family rental building owner-operator.
The new subsidiary, dubbed Maddox, specializes in enhancing purpose-built rental properties. The enhancements can vary but often involve façade modernization, the beautification of landscaped areas, the addition of lifestyle amenities, and enhancing existing communal spaces, suites, and amenities.
Maddox intends to focus its investments initially on Toronto and Montreal, where the company is based, and then expand to other Canadian markets.
“What makes Maddox unique is the fresh perspective and bright vision it is bringing to vintage properties,” said Bahar Joshan Pooch, vice-president of design at Montreal-based Fitzrovia. “Yes, our approach involves revitalizing properties, but it is also focused on respecting the architectural history and neighbourhood context.”
Maddox acquisitions include the 596-unit Sherbourne complex in Toronto’s east end, the two-tower Tyndall property at King and Dufferin streets in Toronto and the 215-suite Dorchester building in Montreal’s Shaughnessy Village area.
Montreal-based Fitzrovia ranks among Canada’s largest developers of purpose-built rentals.
