Former PM Harper Joins Couche-Tard Board
Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper has joined global convenience-store operator Couche-Tard’s board.
Harper’s appointment took effect immediately, said the company in a news release
“With his extensive experience in leadership, governance, business, and global affairs, he brings invaluable insights to the board, which will serve Couche-Tard well as we continue to grow and innovate to meet the evolving needs of the customers and communities we serve in Canada and around the world,” said Alain Bouchard, Couche-Tard’s founder and executive chairman.
Harper served as Canada’s 22nd prime minister in 2006 and held office until 2015. He was the longest-serving Conservative prime minister since the country’s first PM, Sir John A. Macdonald.
Harper currently heads Harper & Associates Consulting, offering strategic advice on market access and managing global geopolitical and economic risks. He is also the founding partner and chairman of Miami-based investment firm Vision One Management,.
Montreal-based Couche-Tard is the second real-estate-oriented company board that he has joined. He also serves on Toronto-based Colliers International’s board.
Harper also chairs the International Democracy Union and International Friends of Israel.
Couche-Tard operates 16,700 stores in 29 countries under the Couche-Tard, Circle-K, and Mac’s banners, among others.
