Fortune Donut Reopening Under Vandal Label

A popular Halifax donut shop is reopening under a new name.

Starting Saturday, Fortune Donut will operate under the Vandal Donuts label. Fortune announced in an Instagram post that it has joined forces with Vandal.

Provincial regulatory filings show that the two companies amalgamated in early August.

The Vandal shop is slated to operate in the former Fortune location.

Fortune and Vandal had previously operated separate shops on Gottingen Street. But Fortune announced August 27 that it was closing for renovations, The Coast reported. Vandal closed its Gottingen Street location in October 2022, citing a shortage of bakers among other factors.

The revamped Vandal is owned by Kent Scales and Zoey Boosey. Scales and Boosey have also partnered on a Halifax Asian fusion restaurant slated to open in spring 2024. They also own Halifax’s Seasmoke restaurant and other eateries on Prince Edward Island.
