Four Companies Chosen to Build Surrey Langley SkyTrain Stations
The B.C. government has selected a four-company consortium to design and build stations along the future $4.01-billion Surrey Langley SkyTrain line.
Eight stations will be constructed under a contract to be negotiated. The four companies are known as the South Fraser Station Partners team.
The firms include Toronto-based Aecon Group, through subsidiary Aecon Constructors; Vancouver-based Acciona Infrastructure Canada; Montreal-based Pomerleau through a B.C. subsidiary; and AECOM Canada, which has 12 offices across the country. Acciona and AECOM’s parent companies are based in Spain and the U.S., respectively.
As the province enters contract negotiations, the team will begin such early work as pre-construction site surveys, locating utilities, geotechnical drilling and station design.
Other early work, including the relocation of power lines, has already begun along the Fraser Highway corridor, said the province.
The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project is a 16-kilometre extension of the Expo line from King George station to Langley City Centre. The line extension is the first rapid-transit expansion south of the Fraser River in 30 years.
Major construction is slated to begin this year, said the province.
The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project will be delivered through three separate contracts. In March, the province named SkyLink Guideway Partners as the preferred proponent to design, build and finance the elevated guideway and associated roadworks, utilities and active transportation elements of the project.
The selection process for the systems and trackwork contract is ongoing. Requests for proposals were issued in early 2023.
