Haleco Developers Enlist Artist for Montreal MF Development
Ivanhoé Cambridge and other developers behind Montreal’s Haleco apartment mixed-use project have contracted an artist to make it stand out.
Marc Séguin has been working closely with Montreal-based Ivanhoé Cambridge and its partners for the past several months, the developers said in a news release. Cogir Immobilier and Pomerleau are also partnering on the multi-family real estate development situated in the Griffintown district. ACDF and L’ŒUF Architecture have teamed up on the project’s design.
Séguin told La Presse that the architects asked him to add “oomph” to the project, which earned an international Reinventing Cities award from global large municipalities network C40. Façade images, will include a she-wolf rallying her clan; earth floating in space, the moon, light glimmering from a lighthouse and blades from a mill that once occupied the site.
Haleco will include social, affordable and market rental housing units among its 327 suites, along with office and retail spaces. The City of Montreal’s satellite garage is slated to occupy ground-floor space.
Ottawa provided a $135-million low-interest loan. Occupancy is slated for summer 2024.
