High Tide to Open New Canna Cabana Pot Store in Kingston
Cannabis retailer High Tide will open its first Canna Cabana store in Kingston, Ont., on Thursday.
The store will be located within a short drive of Queen’s University in a power centre, surrounded by anchor tenants such as a major pharmacy chain, a Canadian pet retailer, and a prominent Canadian home improvement and auto repair chain, said High Tide.
The opening will give Calgary-based High Tide 186 stores in Canada, including 70 in Ontario and 72 in Ontario.
“After six years of legalization, we are still expanding into markets where our Canna Cabana brand doesn’t yet have presence,” said Raj Grover, founder and CEO of High Tide.
“This presents an excellent opportunity for the growth of our Elite & Cabana Club community. Expanding into Kingston, a city with over 30,000 post-secondary students, fits this strategy well, as does the fact that this new store is located within a major power centre next to well-established Canadian retail giants.”
High Tide remain in an aggressive expansion mode, particularly in Ontario. The retailer has opened several new Canna Cabana stores this year.
Grover indicated that the expansion effort will continue for the foreseeable future.
“Our focus on quality organic growth remains a key part of our sustainable business strategy to ensure we are creating lasting value for shareholders,” he said. “I look forward to announcing the launch of several more Cabanas to close out this calendar year.”
The company is Canada’s largest cannabis retailer, operating stores in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba as well as Ontario. High Tide is also looking at possible moves into the U.S. and Europe as part of a global growth effort.
