Highway Motor Freight Expanding at CentrePort

Trucking firm Highway Motor Freight has announced plans to expand its footprint at the Centre Port Canada Rail Park in the Winnipeg Area.

The company has acquired 20 acres of land on which it will construct a 32,000-square-foot transportation terminal in the 665-acre rail park.

The rail park is part of the 20,000-acre CentrePort Canada inland port, which straddles Winnipeg and the Rural Municipality of Rosser, Man.

Highway Motor Freight’s new facility will be more than four times larger than its current space in CentrePort’s Brookside Business Park. The company began operations out of a 7,000-sf building at CentrePort in 2020.

As a result of the expansion, Highway Motor Freight will increase its fleet by 125 trucks to about 800. The expanded facility will incorporate corporate operations, a maintenance area, warehouse space and a wash bay.

β€œThis investment marks a significant milestone in our growth journey and demonstrates our commitment to enhancing service capabilities for our clients,” said Jass Dhillon, Highway Motor Freight’s president and CEO. Looking ahead, we have begun planning Phase 2, which will feature a 50,000-s to 75,000-sf cold- storage warehouse.

“This expansion will further solidify our position as a leader in the transportation industry, enabling us to better meet the needs of our customers and contribute to the economic growth of Manitoba and beyond.”

The new terminal is expected to begin operations in late 2025.
