Hilton Foods Breaks Ground on First Canadian Facility in Brantford

Hilton Foods has commenced construction on its first Canadian manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ont.

The $192-million project is also the U.K.-based firm’s inaugural development project in North America. Hilton Foods will use the highly automated 230,000-square-foot food-processing and distribution centre to serve Walmart exclusively.

The plant will process protein products, including beef, pork, lamb, and seafood, for distribution centres as near and far as Mississauga, Ont.; Cornwall, Ont.; and Moncton.

“This is the beginning of a long-term commitment to Ontario’s food-supply chain, to the people of this region, and to the future of high-quality Canadian food products, right here in Brantford, Ont.,” said Matt Lee, the regional CEO of Hilton Foods.

The Ontario government invested $1.5 million in the project.
