IPA Capital Markets has expanded into Canada by launching operations in Toronto.

The firm is a division of U.S.-based Marcus & Millichap. IPA provides major private and institutional clients with commercial real estate capital markets financing solutions.

Jeff Wagner has been appointed as IPA’s managing director of capital markets in Toronto. He is a commercial real estate industry veteran with about two decades of experience.

Wagner will broaden IPA’s services to institutional and large private investors throughout Canada, the firm said in a news release.

He is based at Marcus & Millichap’s Toronto office. No other capital markets advisors are joining IPA in Toronto at this time. But the firm plans to expand its Canadian business in the near future, a Marcus & Millichap spokesman told Connect.

Wagner joined IPA from Toronto-based Institutional Mortgage Capital, where he was a vice-president and deal originator. He has closed approximately $2 billion in debt and equity transactions across all property and financing types.
