Jennifer Poirier, Southwest Properties

Jennifer Poirier holds the position of senior vice-president of real estate for Southwest Properties Limited. 

As one of Atlantic Canada’s leading real estate developers and property management firms, Southwest owns, operates, and develops residential and commercial real estate in the Maritimes and extended-stay accommodations across Canada.  

Poirier oversees a diverse portfolio of more than 1,860 rental suites and condominiums. She has been with the company for 20 years and involved in bringing to market several award-winning developments, including the Grainery Lofts and, more recently, Maple rentals, Paviilion condominiums and Curve rentals.

Southwest has several major multi-unit and mixed-use projects in the planning and construction phase that will add to her portfolio when complete. Two new redevelopment projects in south end Halifax on Lucknow Street, and the other between South and Harvey streets, as well as the community of Seton Ridge. Seton will offer exciting retail and 2,400 housing units, including 163 single-family dwellings. 

Poirier’s career and passion for operations and real estate began at Dartmouth Non-Profit Housing, after which she spent seven years at O&Y Enterprise, overseeing commercial assets for clients such as Standard Life, Prudential Insurance, Scotiabank, Irving Oil and various REITs.

Poirier holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax.

These are just some of the reasons why Poirier has received a Canadian Women in Real Estate Award.
