Krispy Kreme to Open First Winnipeg Location

Krispy Kreme will expand to the Prairies with the opening of its first donut shop in Winnipeg.

The U.S.-based firm is opening the shop through its Canadian subsidiary based in Scarborough, Ont.

Krispy Kreme announced that it will open a 4,600-square-foot location at 465 Sterling Lyon Parkway within the Tuxedo Park Shopping Centre in late spring. The company has already begun recruiting efforts.

Krispy Kreme has dubbed the location a hot light donut theatre.

“Not only will guests be able to witness the journey of freshly made doughnuts from start to finish through the doughnut theatre, but they will also be able to enjoy their hot and fresh doughnuts right after they are made,” said Krispy Kreme in a news release. “This location will also be the first iteration of a new Canadian design that present and future Krispy Kreme Canada shops will adopt.

Charlotte, N.C.,-based Krispy Kreme currently has about 14 Canadian shops in Ontario, Quebec and B.C. Krispy Kreme Canada is headed by co-CEOs Chris Lindsay and Kelcey Hamaker
