La Caisse, Digital Bridge Acquire Yondr for $5.8B

La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and DigitalBridge Group have acquired data-centre developer, owner and operator Yondr Group for $5.8-billion.

The Yondr facilities are located in Canada, with one in Toronto, along with the U.S. and other countries across the globe.

“Yondr has become a vital infrastructure partner to many of the world’s largest technology companies, and I believe DigitalBridge and La Caisse are the right partners to support Yondr through its next stage of growth,” said William Harrison, CEO of Cathexis. “I look forward to seeing what the business will achieve.”

Puerto Rico-based Cathexis said Yondr is well-positioned to capitalize on growing demand for advanced data-processing capabilities to the expansion of cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

“Over the past few years, we have explored several direct investment opportunities in data centres to capitalize on the growth of the sector, and Yondr’s platform has stood out in this area,” said Emmanuel Jaclot, senior vice-president and head of infrastructure at La Caisse.

La Caisse and DigitalBridge are long-time investment partners.
