Large Life Sciences Park Planned for Southern Ontario

Canadian and U.S. companies plan to develop a massive life sciences and technology park in Southern Ontario.

The Canadian Life Science and Technology Park, Allyant and Integrated Project Services are teaming up to develop the 56-acre project in Georgina, Ont. The development’s name is also the Canadian Life Science and Technology Park.

IPS announced the partners’ plans Thursday in a news release. Georgina is a town located on the southern tip of Lake Simcoe and lies within the Greater Toronto Area.

“Our collaboration with Allyant and the IPS Canadian team is designed to create an innovative, capital-efficient, and sustainable model,” said Safa’a Al-Rais, president and CEO of the Canadian Life Science and Technology Park. “This approach is vital for developing the infrastructure needed to expedite the process of developing, testing, and delivering transformative services and medicines to patients.”

The project will begin with the development and site master-planning of the site, which is located within the Keswick Business Park. The life science and technology park is designed to attract pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and bioprocessing companies as well as the contract research organizations (CROs), contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs.)

The partners are also looking to serve the warehousing, healthcare, digital and technology sectors, along with academia and other related fields.

“By integrating real estate, people, ideas, machinery, systems, and data into a cohesive network, we aim to create an agile and efficient environment conducive to development and manufacturing, aligning with the latest Industry and Pharma 4.0 innovations,” said IPS.

Ottawa-based Allyant specializes in life sciences and technology project delivery. Blue Bell, Pa.-based IPS is a global Berkshire Hathaway company that develops solutions for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
