Loto-Québec Plans to Build New Montreal Hotel

Loto-Québec has announced plans to build a new $150-million hotel next to its Montreal casino.

Quebec’s lottery and gaming corporation said it will soon launch calls for design tenders for the 200-room hotel, which will stand four storeys and open in the next two or three years. The low building height is intended to respect the character of Parc Jean-Drapeau (Jean Drapeau Park) in which the casino is located, said Loto-Québec.

“We’re very proud to announce the construction of this hotel as it’ll move the casino to the top among the best entertainment destinations,” said Jean-François Bergeron, Loto-Québec’s president and CEO, in a news release. “Its location at the heart of Parc Jean-Drapeau will put this hotel in a class all by itself. It’ll showcase Montreal beautifully.”

The new hotel will become part of Loto-Québec’s real estate portfolio, along with the Hilton Lac-Leamy and Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. Loto-Québec will be the sole owner but will soon choose name-brand partner.
