MacEwen Acquires Little Short Stop C-Store Chain
MacEwen Petroleum has acquired the Little Short Stop convenience-store chain that operates across Southwestern Ontario.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Maxville, Ont.-based MacEwen acquired 26 Little Short Stop stores from the Arnold family, which founded the chain in 1967 in Kitchener, Ont.
MacEwen operates its convenient stores under the Quickie banner. Quickie is also a fuel-station provider.
“Like Quickie, the Little Short Stop chain is a well-established brand in their communities with a legacy spanning 57 years,” said MacEwen in a news release. “We are especially thankful to the Arnold family for entrusting us with their business.”
Jamie Arnold, a former Little Short Stop co-owner who had also served as president, told Convenience Store News that he will not remain with the business after making the difficult decision to sell. He and his brother Mike took over Little Short Stop from their father Paul, who launched the chain.
