McKesson Developing New $150M Distribution Centre in Montreal
Pharmaceutical giant McKesson Canada is investing $150.5 million in a new drug-distribution centre in Montreal’s east end.
McKesson announced plans for the project at the Eastern Summit, a conference on the area’s business activities, La Presse. The facility, which is already under construction, is expected to open in spring 2026.
Located near Highway 40 in the new 40NetZero energy-efficient business district, the 37,200-square-metre (400,000-square-foot) centre will double McKesson’s current storage capacity in the area. Operations from the company’s existing east-end distribution centre will be transferred to the new site, with all 340 jobs preserved, Jean-Phillipe Blouin, McKesson Canada’s senior vice-president of pharmaceutical distribution and business operations, told the conference.
The centre will support approximately 2,000 daily deliveries of medication to pharmacies and hospitals across Quebec, La Presse reported. It will also include 11,150 square metres (120,040) sf of refrigerated space to accommodate a growing volume of temperature-sensitive medications. A significant portion of the investment is allocated to human-assisted automation systems for order preparation.
