Metro Supply Chain to Acquire SCI
Metro Supply Chain has agreed to acquire third-party logistics firm SCI Group from Canada Post and its subsidiary Purolator.
The sellers and Montreal-based Metro Supply Chair are finalizing the transaction, which is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“The move comes as Canada Post focuses on transforming to serve the changing needs of Canadians and Canadian businesses,” said the company in a news release.
SCI specializes in warehousing fulfillment, supply-chain solutions and transportation management. The company operates 75 locations totalling about four million square feet and has approximately 3,000 employees.
“We’re pleased this move will help to further strengthen an established Canadian logistics leader, while allowing us to focus our efforts on continuing to lead in the rapidly growing ecommerce market,” said Doug Ettinger, Canada Post’s president and CEO, in a news release.
The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
