Metropia has broken ground on its massive Union City mixed-use development in Markham, Ont.

In addition, Toronto-based Metropia promoted Samuel Frum president as Howard Sokolowski continues his role as chair and CEO.

Union City is slated to comprise 2.2 million square feet of office space, 2 msf of retail space and 10,000 condominium units and townhomes.. Metropia said it has already presold 1,200 condo units.

Frum’s promotion to president comes after he advanced from being a financial analyst to vice-president of investments. During the past six years, he has overseen, and contributed to, the firm’s expansion while launching eight projects and doubling the size of the internal team. 

Frum has led the Union City project.
