Montreal’s Place Versailles Slated for $2.2B Redev
The owners of Montreal’s Place Versailles are seeking to turn the 61-year-old mall into a mixed-use site as part of a massive $2.2-billion redevelopment.
Plans call for a new neighbourhood that features 5,200 housing units, businesses, offices, parks, public squares, a primary school, and community facilities on the 17-hectare property.
“The commercial vocation of the site will, however, remain significant,” said the mall’s owners in a news release.
The news release did not identify the owners. But Richard Dubrovsky and John William Gregory are the listed owners on the province’s business registry, CBC reported.
Place Versailles is located in the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve near the Radisson Metro station. The borough’s council has adopted a resolution that calls for Montreal city council to rezone the property according to the redevelopment plan.
Montreal city council will consider project on Monday.
“The owners of Place Versailles are working closely with municipal authorities to ensure a harmonious integration of this project into the urban fabric,” said the Place Versailles owners.
