MontVR Opening Funhub Entertainment Centre in Downtown Montreal

A new entertainment centre is set to open in the heart of downtown Montreal.

Funhub, a sprawling three-storey venue located on Cathcart Street, is bringing a dynamic mix of activities to the city, promising an unforgettable experience for people of all ages, says its owner MontVR. A grand opening will be held January 16.

The new venue builds on MontVR’s eight-year legacy in virtual reality entertainment, according to the company. MontVR co-founders Jay Michaud and Sébastien Coulombe describe Funhub as an evolution of their expertise, combining innovative ideas and years of dedication to create an all-encompassing entertainment hub.

“Funhub is more than just an arcade or a [virtual-reality] space; it’s where all things fun collide,” said Kassandra Skoulikides, a MontVR partner. “Whether it’s a date night, a family outing, or a casual drink with friends, there’s something here for everyone.”

Funhub offers a wide array of attractions, including about 120 arcade games and claw machines, state-of-the-art virtual reality experiences, immersive escape rooms, pool tables, and two full-service bars. The dining area features a menu curated by the reknown Chic Chef, providing a local culinary touch to the entertainment experience.

Additionally, the venue boasts corporate and event spaces for private rentals and direct access to Place Ville-Marie’s underground metro.

The grand opening event’s invited guests will enjoy complimentary gameplay, signature cocktails, premium bar service, and a showcase of culinary delights from Chic Chef, says MontVR. The event will also feature networking opportunities for media, influencers, and business professionals.

Bringing Funhub to life has been a remarkable journey for MontVR’s leadership team, says the company.

Entirely bootstrapped, the project overcame challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Three years ago, businesses like ours were being written off, but we refused to give up,” said Michaud, MontVR’s CEO. “Our resilience and determination have brought us here today, and we’re just getting started.”

MontVR has ambitious plans to open multiple locations Funhub locations annually over the next decade in Montreal and beyond.
