Morguard Breaks Ground on Mississauga Purpose-Built Rental Project
Morguard has commenced construction on a new purpose-built multi-family rental real estate project in Mississauga, Ont.
The property is located at 725 Village Green Boulevard in the Toronto suburb’s Port Credit area.
The development is slated to feature three mid-rise residential buildings that will comprise a total of 431 units, including studios, 3-bedroom suites, townhomes, and luxury penthouses.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held recently with Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish and Ward 1 Councillor Stephen Dasko taking part with other officials. Designed by the architecture firm BDP Quadrangle, the project will feature a wide range of modern amenities, including rooftop terraces, a chef’s kitchen, a co-working space, and fitness facilities.
The buildings are targeted for LEED Gold certification with energy-efficient features like heat recovery ventilation systems and rainwater harvesting for irrigation.
Morguard executives praised the collaboration with city officials and emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, purpose-built rental communities.
“We are laying the foundation for a brighter, more sustainable future for Mississauga,” said Angela Sahi, Morguard’s president and chief operating officer.
The development will cater to cater to a variety of residents, including young professionals, downsizing couples, and families while offering both urban convenience and access to nature. With proximity to schools, retail centres, and the Lakefront Promenade, the new community will provide a modern, connected lifestyle, said Morguard.
Mississauga-based Morguard is a major investment and property management company. The firm’s commercial real estate portfolio contains about 17,000 multi-suite residential units across North America, valued at $6.4 billion as of mid-2024.
The company’s extensive holdings include residential, office, retail, and industrial properties.
