New CO-OP Store Under Construction in Edmonton

Construction has begun on a new CO-OP grocery store and pharmacy in the
Orchards community within south Edmonton.

According to the Alberta government’s major projects website, the North
Central Co-operative Association has invested $12 million in the project. The
project will be the third multi-development for North Central and be situated
near an existing gas station, car wash and liquor store, the co-op said in an April
news release
.

North Central is a locally owned co-op serving 110,000 members in the
Edmonton region. The organization is associated with Federated Co-operatives
Ltd., a network of co-operatives that use the CO-OP brand and operate big-box
grocery stores, liquor shops, gas stations and other retail outlets across
Western Canada.

The Orchards development is slated to be completed in 2024, according to the
Alberta government.
