New Hotel Opens in Northwest Calgary

Canadian hotelier Germain Hotels has opened a new hotel in northwest Calgary.

Alt Hotel Calgary University District is the company’s third location in the city and 19th in Canada. The hotel is situated at 482 Mclaurin Street on University of Calgary-owned land, in the heart of the university district. A recent grand opening was held with dignitaries including Gregg Callander, interim president and CEO of the U of C’s properties group; Marie Pier Germain, vice-president of sales and marketing for Germain Hotels; Calgary city councillor Terry Wong and Hugo Germain, the company’s vice-president of operations.

“This hotel opening is a special one for us, as it’s our first one since the end of the pandemic,” said Marie Pier Germain in a news release.

The hotel contains 155 guest rooms, more than 4,000 square feet of meeting and event space, two boardrooms and one creative lounge.
