New No Frills Grocery Store Opens in Northwest Winnipeg
A newly opened No Frills grocery store has become the anchor tenant at the Moore Centre in northwest Winnipeg.
The new store is located at 1375 McPhillips Street., strengthening the retail development’s role as a neighbourhood shopping destination in the area.
Operated by local associate-owner Adelina, the store will provide residents in the Garden City area with access to discount groceries and household essentials. Shindico, the mall’s owner, said the grocery store is expected to increase customer traffic for neighbouring retailers while supporting the long-term growth of the retail complex.
The company said the opening also represents a local investment through the creation of new jobs and complements a proposed multi-family residential development planned for the site.
“A grocery anchor like this delivers real, everyday value to the surrounding community and strengthens the centre for everyone who shops and does business here,” said Sandy Shindleman, founder and chairman of Shindico.
The company said leasing opportunities remain available at Moore Centre, including office and retail space, as well as retail space at the neighbouring Moore Square development.
No Frills, owned by Loblaw Companies, is one of Canada’s largest discount-grocery chains, with more than 300 independently operated stores across nine provinces.
Founded in 1975, Winnipeg-based Shindico is an integrated commercial real estate company with a portfolio that includes shopping centres, office buildings, industrial parks, multi-family apartments, self-storage facilities and mixed-use developments. The company has developed more than eight million square feet of real estate, with an additional 13.1 msf in the development pipeline.
