New Sandman Hotel Opens in Dartmouth

Sandman Hotel Group has opened a new location in Dartmouth, N.S.

The Sandman Signature Hotel & Suites is located on Wilkinson Avenue next to the Dartmouth Crossing shopping centre. Dartmouth is Halifax’s twin city and part of the Halifax Regional Municipality.

The new hotel is Sandman’s second in Nova Scotia and its first in the province bearing the Signature banner. The property contains 212 guest rooms and suites with an indoor pool and slides, hot tub, fitness centre and Denny’s restaurant. The development also includes 6,000 square feet of meeting-room space.

The Vancouver-based Sandman and Denny’s chains are owned by the Gaglardi family’s Northland Properties Corporation. Northland’s holdings include an asset management company of the same name, the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars, the Sutton Place Hotels, Moxies restaurants, Chop Steakhouse & Bar locations, and Grouse Mountain Resort in North Vancouver, B.C.

Kevin Gilhooly, president and COO of Sandman and Sutton Place, indicated in a news release that the company plans to expand further in Dartmouth.

“We are fully committed to the growth and success of the city and are pleased to be an ongoing supporter of Nova Scotia’s culture and economy,” he said.,

Sandman hotels are located in Canada, the U.S. and U.K.
