New SmartStop Self-Storage Facility Opens in Toronto

Strategic Storage Trust VI, a REIT sponsored by SmartStop Self Storage REIT, has opened a large new facility under the Smart Stop brand in Toronto.

The six-storey, climate-controlled facility is located at 494 Gilbert Avenue and offers approximately 120,000 square feet of rentable space across 1,475 units. With features such as heated indoor loading and three elevators, the property is designed for maximum convenience and security.

It is situated near Eglinton Avenue West, a major traffic corridor, and serves several nearby communities, including Forest Hill North, Fairbank, and Oakwood Village.

SST VI focuses on investing in income-generating self-storage properties in Canada and the U.S., while SmartStop is a self-managed REIT with about 220 owned or managed properties and a strong presence in Canada, operating 41 facilities nationwide.

“This facility marks a significant advancement in our strategic expansion into high-demand, high-growth markets,” said Michael Schwartz, president and CEO of SST VI. “We are pleased to reinforce our commitment to Toronto by offering a secure, modern storage solution that meets the evolving needs of the community.”
