NORR-designed Large Philly Office Conversion Nearly Complete

A large office-to-residential conversion project in Philadelphia designed by NORR Architects is getting ready to open its doors to residents.

“It’s nearly complete,” George Sorich, Toronto-based NORR’s vice-president of residential, told Connect.

Occupancy is expected to begin this month.

Dubbed 17 Market West, the conversion project is located at 1701 Market Street in the Center City area and comprises 305,170 square feet. It currently ranks as the largest office-to-residential conversion project in Philadelphia.

The company provided architectural and structural-engineering services for the Philadelphia project. NORR completed the work on behalf of Alterra Property Group, a Philadelphia-based investor and developer that owns the development.

The Canadian firm also collaborated with BALA Consulting Group, Eileen Tognini Design and Clemens Design.

BALA provided services related to mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, while Tognini designed the interior and Clemens served as the general contractor.

The project’s amenities includes a fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment, along with a multi-purpose court that can be used for basketball games and pickleball matches.

In addition, the building contains a lounge/meeting room adjoined by a kitchen.
