Northwest Names Mitchell Permanent CEO
Northwest Healthcare Properties REIT has appointed Craig Mitchell as its permanent CEO after he had served in the post temporarily.
“Since he was appointed interim CEO in August 2023, Craig’s steadfast leadership has stabilized our organization through taking several important steps towards strengthening our balance sheet and fostering strong relationships with many stakeholders,” said Dale Klein, Northwest’s non-executive board chair, in a news release.
Mitchell, formerly Northwest’s president, became interim CEO as the REIT revamped its leadersip team to increase unit value. He replaced founder Paul Dalla Lana, who resigned from his CEO and board chair positions. Toronto-based Northwest also launched a strategic review, still in progress, to plot future growth.
In another move, Northwest appointed Karen Martin as interim CFO. Martin’s experience includes serving as executive vice-president for Element Fleet Management, formerly Element Financial Corporation.
Northwest’s portfolio holds 231properties with 18.5 million square feet of leasable area in Canada, the U.S., Brazil, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
