Oakcreek Acquires Two U.S. Turf-maintenance Chains

Oakcreek Golf & Turf has acquired two long-standing U.S.-based commercial turf-maintenance and irrigation equipment distributorship chains.

The acquisition includes L.L. Johnson Distributing Company, which operates under the brand LL Johnson, and Midwest Turf & Irrigation. Together, the chains comprise substantially all assets of Pattlen Enterprises, Oakcreek said in a news release. Financial terms were not disclosed.

According to L.L. Johnson’s company website, the distributor has four locations in Colorado. Midwest’s website says the chain has 30 distributorships across Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Headquartered in Denver and Omaha, Neb., respectively, the LL Johnson and Midwest Turf chains have served customers across the U.S. Rockies and Midwest for 50 years. Both companies distribute Toro equipment and products from other leading manufacturers, supplying golf courses, sports complexes, municipalities, and residential markets.

“I’m very pleased to see our business, built over many decades by an exceptional team, being acquired by Oakcreek,” said Jim Johnson, Pattlen’s CEO. “Oakcreek’s customer-first mentality aligns perfectly with our own. I’m confident that this partnership will lead to continued success for the decades ahead.”

The outlets will continue to operate under the LL Johnson and Midwest Turf names during the transition, with integration expected to take place over the coming months.

Oakcreek, headquartered in Calgary, is a full-service distributor of commercial turf-care, golf irrigation, snow-grooming equipment, and golf power carts. The company owns and operates locations across Western Canada.
