Onni Lands First Tenant in Renovated Chicago Office Tower

Canada’s Onni Group has landed its first tenant at a newly renovated office tower in downtown Chicago’s Loop area.

Crain’s Chicago Business reported that law firm Neal Gerber & Eisenberg has signed a lease for 90,000 square feet across three floors in the 853,000-sf landmark building. The law firm will relocate in 2025 from 2 N. LaSalle Street in Chicago after its lease there expires.

Onni paid US$166 million for the 31-storey tower in 2021 with plans to overhaul the property, which was designated as a city landmark due to its history as a hub of the former Bell Telephone Company. Onni acquired office tower from Kushner Companies, which was previously headed by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former U.S. president Donald Trump.

CBRE’s Todd Lippman and Kyle Kamin negotiated the new lease on behalf of Neal Gerber & Eisenberg. Onni was represented by Jack O’Brien and Matt Whipple of Telos Group.
