Ottawa’s New BCH Could Act as Developer

The federal government’s new Build Canada Homes program could act as a housing in various ways, The Globe and Mail reported.

The Globe cited its source as a document posted online by the federal housing ministry.

Ottawa’s roles could include working with contractors, investors, and other developers to bring projects to fruition, and Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government wants to ensure that low-interest loans are made available, according to the report.

The government is also seeking industry input as it forms its plans for the program,

The Build Canada Homes program is the largest of its kind since the post-World War II era. The program is focused on supporting large-scale, affordable, factory-built and pre-fabricated housing.
