Ovivo Divesting Electronics Division to Ecolab in $2.4B Deal

Ovivo has agreed to sell its Electronics division to Ecolab in a transaction valued at approximately $2.4 billion.

The definitive agreement, made alongside shareholder SKion Water, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. Ovivo said the transaction will mark a new phase in its strategy, with a sharper focus on its Municipal/Industrial/PFAS, Energy and Cembrane divisions. (PFAS stands for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances.)

“This transaction is a testament to the world leading market position that our Electronics division has built over the last decades,” said Marc Barbeau, Ovivo’s president and CEO.

Based in Montreal, Ovivo is a global provider of water and wastewater treatment equipment, technology and systems, with operations in 18 countries and more than 1,500 employees.

Ecolab, headquartered in Saint Paul, Minn., is a global sustainability company that provides water, hygiene and infection-prevention solutions and services in more than 170 countries, employing 48,000 people worldwide. The firm’s Canadian headquarters is located in Mississauga, Ont.

SKion Water, Ovivo’s German shareholder, said it will continue to pursue its growth strategy in municipal and industrial water technologies while strengthening collaboration across its portfolio. Ovivo and SKion are owned by the German entrepreneur family Klatten’s investment holding company SKion GmbH.
