  • Tamara Vrooman has departed as chairperson of Canada Infrastructure Bank following a three-year tenure. Under her guidance, the bank’s portfolio made more than 50 investment commitments. Of those, 45 projects that have reached financial closure and 36 are in active construction or operation, CIB said in a news release. Vrooman chaired CIB while serving as president and CEO of the Vancouver Airport Authority (YVR) and in her previous role as Van City’s top executive. She will remain with YVR. Jane Bird, a member of CIB’s board of director will over CIB until a permanent chairperson is appointed by the federally-owned bank’s governor-in-council. Bird has served on the board since CIB was created in 2017.
  • Cadillac Fairview has promoted Brian Salpeter to executive vice-president of real estate. Salpeter is now leading CF’s development team and overseeing company’s strategic planning, financial returns and execution of its residential, industrial, retail, office and mixed-use development platform projects. Salpeter joined Montreal-based CF in 2015 as senior vice-president of development and has worked on many residential, retail, office, and mixed-use projects.
  • Slate Asset Management has promoted Desmond (Des) Vindici and Sven Vollenbruch to managing directors. Vindici is based in Chicago and focuses on capital markets and commercial mortgage-backed securities for Slate’s U.S. debt platform. Prior to joining Slate in 2022, he held various positions with Wells Fargo. Vollenbuch is based in Frankfurt and oversees Slate’s European investments. He also oversees and manages the company’s European funds and portfolios. In 2023, he led Slate’s €1-billion acquisition of a 188-property retail portfolio in Germany from X+Bricks. Before joining Slate, he held several positions with JLL.
  • Robert Baron has retired from Northwest Healthcare Properties REIT’s board. Baron served on the board for 14 years. He is the president of real estate executive search firm BCGi Consulting. Robert (Bobby) Julien and Graham Garner have been tagged to fill two board vacancies. Julien is the CEO of Kolter Group. He also manages a Kolter affiliate that ranks as one of Northwest’s largest unitholders, owning about 9.6% of issued and outstanding units. Garner has been operating his own advisory services firm since 2020. Before then, he served as CFO of the Strategic group, a private Calgary-based real estate investment and asset management company. HIs firm, Garner Advisory Services, has been advising Kolter on its investment in Northwest. Julien and Garner’s appointments come after Northwest revamped its leadership team and launched the ongoing strategic review to increase unit value.
  • Daniel Lachapelle has been promoted to vice-president of CRB’s Northeast region. He will oversee the company’s offices in Boston, Bridgewater, N.J.; Philadelphia and Toronto. Lachapelle formerly headed CRB’s operations in Canada. CRB provides sustainable engineering architecture, construction and consulting services to the life sciences and food and beverage industries. The move places him in one of the world’s most dynamic and life sciences centres, said CRB in a news release. Lachapelle joined CRB in 2018.   • Angelo Bartolini has assumed the dual role of president and CFO at Tribe Property Technologies. Vancouver-based Tribe added the CFO position to his existing role as president. Bartolini joined Tribe in October 2023 and has more than three decades of executive leadership experience with public companies, including about 12 years as CFO for Altus Group. Tribe seeks to acquire highly accretive targets in the fragmented North American property management industry and digitize their operations. The company has completed 12 acquisitions to date.
