  • Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund appointed Gary Merasty to its board of trustees. Merasty, CEO of The Peter Ballantyne Group of Companies, has diverse experience in the real estate construction, retail, fabrication, forestry and hospitality sectors. He served two terms as Grand Chief of the Prince Albert Grand Council and was the first status First Nations person elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature. With over 20 years’ involvement in corporate, non-profit boards, think tanks, and secondary institutions, Merasty emphasizes sustainability, said Toronto-based Chemtrade in a news release. His appointment reflects Chemtrade’s commitment to diverse expertise and responsible governance, the company added.
  • Veni Iozzo is among Catalyst Canada’s newly appointed board members. She serves as executive vice-president of enterprise real estate and workplace transformation at CIBC With extensive experience in the financial sector, she now oversees CIBC’s global real estate portfolio, including the development of the bank’s new corporate headquarters. Her career spans more than 30 years and encompasses diverse executive roles such as marketing, sales leadership, and public affairs. She serves as vice-chair of the Trillium Health Partners Foundation board. Iozzo holds an MBA from Royal Roads University in Victoria. She also completed the ICD-Rotman Directors Education program, earning her director designation. Catalyst is a global non-profit supported by many of the world’s most powerful CEOs and leading companies. Founded in 1962, the group helps workplaces that work for women. 
  • Raymond James Ltd., the Canadian division of U.S.-based Raymond James Financial, Inc., has appointed Robert Sutherland as managing director and head of real estate for the equity capital markets team. Sutherland has more than 25 years of career experience, including 12 years in capital markets, Sutherland will lead and manage the real estate sector for the Toronto-based firm’s investment banking team in Canada.
  • JLL has bolstered its capital markets team in Vancouver by appointing Edgar Buksevics and Kevin Meikle as executive vice-president. Buksevics has completed diverse real estate transactions nationwide, showcasing expertise across property types and deal complexities. Renowned for his advisory prowess, he’ll enhance JLL’s presence in Western Canada, focusing on investment sales, joint ventures, and capital connections. Meikle brings extensive experience in real estate investment and financial structuring, having managed diverse transactions and provided strategic guidance on debt and equity. Meikle and Buksevics moved to JLL from Cushman & Wakefield where, they served 26 and 13 years, respectively.
  • KV Capital appointed Paul Verhesen as strategic advisor for its operating company’s private equity team. Verhesen, the former president and CEO of Clark Builders, brings over 30 years of construction industry leadership and expertise to his new role. He will spearhead the expansion of KV’s private-equity group into building-products acquisitions, said the Edmonton-based company in a news release. KV Capital is an alternative investment fund manager with approximately $450 million in committed assets under management. The funds are spread among a diverse range of asset classes, including real estate, mortgages and private operating businesses, real estate, and mortgages.
