  • Colliers has been named the World’s Best Real Estate Advisor by the prestigious Euromoney Global Real Estate Awards. Building on last year’s Best Global Agency win, Toronto-based Colliers continued to receive the most accolades globally in 2024, with top rankings in 16 categories including Asia Pacific’s Best Real Estate Advisor, Europe’s Best Real Estate Advisor and Latin America’s Best Real Estate Agency. Euromoney’s real estate awards recognize organizations that achieve commercial success and commit to technological advances and sustainability initiatives that improve the industry. Colliers is a leading global diversified professional services company, specializing in commercial real estate services, engineering consultancy and investment management. 
  • BGO has named Simon Holmes as its new chief investment officer for Canada. Holmes will lead the investment team responsible for execution of the firm’s Canadian real estate transaction activity, BGO announced. He will also retain his role as leader and portfolio manager for BGO’s flagship Canadian core strategy. As part of his expanded position, he will contribute to BGO Canada’s strategic platform growth initiatives and remain active in the firm’s investor relations and capital raising functions. In addition, he will chair BGO Canada’s management investment committee. Holmes assumes the Canadian CIO position from Christina Iaccoucci, who remains a managing partner and head of Canada. Since rejoining BGO in 2016, his duties have included setting the strategic direction for the Prime Canadian Fund, overseeing comprehensive portfolio restructuring initiatives and completing major property acquisitions and dispositions. Prior to rejoining BGO, he spent a decade with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board with his responsibilities covering multiple property types in Canada and the U.S. He started his career with BGO in 2003.
  • Avison Young has appointed Brett Armstrong as the new managing director for its Vancouver office. In his new role, Armstrong will focus on executing the firm’s strategic business plan, prioritizing business development and expanding market share across the city and province. Armstrong, who joined Avison Young in 2012, most recently served as the firm’s senior vice-president of office leasing in Vancouver. He remains a principal of Avison Young. Previously, he was based in Toronto, where he led Avison Young’s downtown Toronto leasing team. Armstrong succeeds Jessica Toppazzini, who was Avison Young’s first female managing director. Toppazzini has left the firm.
  • Peter Mancini has been named director of investments at Clifton Blake Asset Management. He rejoins Toronto-based Clifton Blake after splitting the past three years with Republic Developments and Forest Gate Capital. Mancini has also worked for Trinity Development Group and Dream Office REIT since launching his commercial real estate finance career in 2017.
  • Orion Construction has promoted Kayla Saunders to manager of design and innovation. She had previously served as manager of design. Saunders has been with Langley, B.C.-based Orion since 2021, starting as an architectural technologist.
