- Justin Persaud has joined CBRE Capital in Toronto as a vice-president. He brings about 14 years of related industry experience, both within equity and lending, having arranged and closed over $4 billion in loans across diverse asset classes. His expertise spans multifamily, retail, industrial, office, master-planned development, land, residential, alternative assets and more. Justin brings a wealth of knowledge, passion and experience to our business. Persaud moved to CBRE from Fengate Asset Management in Toronto, where he spent about three years in debt-management roles.
- In another move, CBRE name Maxime Foucaud as managing director of its Ottawa office. He most recently worked for the firm’s national investment team in Montreal. He succeeded Louis Karam, who became CBRE’s managing director in Quebec. Employed by CBRE since 2019, Foucaud is getting into management after previously serving in broker positions. After joining Scott Speirs’ investment team, he moved with it to CBRE in 2019. Foucaud’s notable deals, in partnership with Speirs, include some of the most memorable transactions in Quebec’s history. They include sales of Montreal’s Molson Brewery site in 2018, the Montreal World Trade Centre in 2019 and Tour KPMG in 2021. He also brokers Allied Properties REIT’s 2021 purchase of the office component of Jesta Group’s 1 million-square-foot Place Gare Viger redevelopment, and LaSalle Canada Property Fund’s acquisition of a 50% stake in the Ivanhoé Cambridge office tower Maison Manuvie.
- Damon Conrad has been promoted to vice-president and general manager at Royal LePage Commercial. Conrad previously served as the Toronto-based firm’s national managing director of commercial real estate. Conrad strives to build relationships in the industry rather than just increase the firm’s transaction total. He joined Royal Lepage after spending about two years as national real estate director for the Second Cup coffee shop chain. He has also held leadership positions with BGIS, SNC-Lavalin, Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities and Cushman & Wakefield during a career that spanned about two decades.
- Scott Sharples has joined Northwest Healthcare Properties REIT as vice-president of Canadian asset management. Sharples is based in Northwest’s Calgary office. His previous career stops have included BGO, Cresa Calgary, Tonko and CREIT Management.
- Kristy Todd Millar has joined Vancouver-based PCI Developments as director of real estate finance. Previously, Millar served as a senior director with the commercial real estate teams at RBC and HSBC where she provided comprehensive real estate financial services to some of Metro Vancouver’s leading real estate developers and asset managers. Outside of her day-to-day duties, she is active with the Urban Development Institute, serving as co-vice chair of the Women of UDI committee. She is also a past-president of the Association Women in Finance’s board.
- EllisDon has promoted Paul Schaefer to construction manager. He had held project manager positions with the firm since joining the Toronto-based firm in 2015 from Trotter and Morton Group in Vancouver, where he served in project manager and quality control positions. Schaefer is a steamfitter by trade. Meanwhile, EllisDon has promoted Sarah Fabris to senior manager of people and culture after she previously held manager and assistant manager positions in that department. Fabris joined EllisDon after serving as a human resources associate with the City of Brampton.
- Bianca Kratt has joined Borden Ladner Gervais as a partner in the law firm’s Calgary commercial real estate group. Kratt is an accomplished CRE lawyer with 20 years of local and national experience. practice touches on all aspects of commercial real estate, including leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, banking and secured transactions, and project development. She regularly advises clients on a variety of real estate transactions, in diverse asset classes. She also provides legal advice on corporate and commercial matters. Prior to joining BLG, Bianca worked as a practice group leader with Parlee McLaws’ corporate, banking, and real estate group. She a past-president of both the Canadian Bar Association and its Calgary branch.
