Plante Unveils Plans for 13,500 High-Density Housing Units
The City of Montreal plans to develop 13,500 multi-residential units in the borough of Bridge-Bonaventure.
Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante unveiled the high-density housing initiative during a news conference this week. The city is vowing to make the neighbourhood an employment hub that includes affordable housing and green spaces.
Plans call for 40% of the project near the downtown area to include off-market units.
The 2.3-square-kilometre area is also slated to include mixed-use properties.
The plan will require collaboration between the municipal, provincial, and federal governments, as well as private developers. The city plans to refine the development effort with consultations with the public and other interested groups while taking further planning steps.
